  • Ease of adulteration of certain types of food products;
  • Technical knowledge in adulterating food without being detected;
  • Ease of accessibility into certain locations e.g. R and D lab, processing plant, logistics;
  • Financial status of company;
  • Increased regulatory control e.g. within EU, this itself could be a driver for underground economy if the demand cannot be met through legal supply routes.
